If there is any reason to be a fan of Dominque “Ceewhy” Suttles, it is his passion for good music. The Midwest is a medley of musical influences, which creates a unique approach to music and produces an incomparable sound. Ceewhy creates the music he wants, not trying to fit in as much as stand out. He doesn’t believe in being a follower of a single genre, and his art reflects that belief.

Ceewhy credits two childhood gifts as being pivotal in his path to becoming an artist. The first was a poetry book from Ms. Rosa Bogart, a faculty-member at his school, which inspired him to write his own poetry. The other was the album Peaceful Journey by Heavy D & the Boyz, a gift from his father, a popular Minneapolis radio disk jockey, which ignited his love for hip-hop and all things music.  It was the first album Ceewhy remembers having memorized, unknowing that the album would have a huge influence on his writing and the idea of what an album should be, for years to come.

Growing up, Ceewhy’s musical interest was not limited to hip hop, as he recalls spending much of his childhood listening to his father’s vast and eclectic vinyl collection. After attending Clark Atlanta University, Ceewhy took his love music and poetry and began to seriously pursue a professional career as an artist, not simply a rapper. In the years since, he has worked on solo projects; has opened for performers such as Mos Def, Nelly, Ludacris, TI and Dead Prez; worked with Erykah Badu and performed at SXSW.

Currently, Ceewhy and his band, Guerrilla Panic, have been making a name for themselves in the Twin Cities’ music scene. From their stage shows to music videos, their approach to performing is unparalleled. Whether light shows, confetti guns or pyrotechnics; their shows always deliver something unexpected and leave the fans with something to talk about.

Outside of music, Ceewhy still finds time for other entrepreneurial and philanthropic endeavors including partnering with Dotado Apparel, working with the non-profit  Free Range Music Cooperative, TAT Duplications, & A12 Graphics. He has also found time to start his own imprint Art Imitates Life Media (A.I.L. Media), while continuing to use his platform as an artist to help improve his community through activism.
